Have you met the Vixens yet?

The New Street Vixens are slowly becoming the talk of the town, giving girls at school years R to 6 the chance to join a club, take a step into football at any skill level and start to play the game. The response was incredible from day one when back in May this year a sea of excited girls turned up to the first session eager to play, learn and have fun. With no other opportunities like this available in Andover girls are being welcomed to start football, join a team of their choice, and start an exciting adventure.

The sessions are covered by our FA qualified coaches, but much of the actual delivery is delivered by our older players the amazing Andover New Street U14 girls (or Super-Vixens as we like to call them!). Amazingly a large number of them have already studied and passed their FA Playmaker qualification, the first step on the coaching qualification ladder.

Vixens Weekly Round Up

Saturday 20th November

The U9 Vixens had great fun on Saturday, although plenty of shots going wide, fantastic efforts were being made and pressure was maintained by all the girls.

A quick couple of breakaway runs led to a few goals after the opposition played some great passing football.

Great away morning by all the girls and smiles all round!

The U11 Vixens had a 9.30am kick off in Southampton against a team from Eastleigh playing only their 3rd game and the Vixens were off to a great start achieving a great half time result. A great game by both teams.

The U8 Vixens had a league tournament this week. After losing 3 players and 1 coach to covid since the weekend, it looked like the team were down to maximum of 5 girls.

New to the team was Flo who had her first ever training session on the Friday and had her first five matches under her belt by Saturday lunchtime!

The girls were determined and were brilliant.

It was medal’s all round, and yet another bunch of fun memories and big smiles from their first season.

The U12 Vixen Swifts faced and interesting challenge. Playing Overton in a 7v7 game, on a 9v9 pitch! It was a tough game against an unbeaten side, but they played the right way from start to finish. The clubs newest qualified coach Liam said:

“I think the girls did amazing today, each and every one of them worked so hard, when they came off they was all so puffed out. It was difficult for all of them adjusting to 7 players. I don't think anyone of us could say that

110% effort wasn't given at any point. It was a such a pleasure seeing things worked on in training happening throughout the game. If I was asked I couldn't pick a player of the match everyone was played their hearts out and should all be very proud of themselves”

Sunday 21st November

To top off a great weekend, the U12 Vixens advanced to the third round of the Hampshire Cup.
